The faculty of West Stanly High School believes that it is the basic responsibility of the school to provide the curriculum and instruction that best serves the needs of every student. We should strive to motivate the students to develop their mental capacities to the fullest, to promote productive attitudes, to encourage the intellectual curiosity of each student, to aid in developing the physical fitness of the students, to prepare students to engage in a chosen profession or vocation, and to develop discriminatory values and comprehension for living in a technological and democratic society. We further believe that each student should be afforded the opportunity to achieve the full potential of his or her ability, talent, and initiative through excellent instruction and serious study.

Recognizing the singularity of each pupil, we feel that the courses of instruction should be adjusted to meet the needs of the individual.

In order that students learn, the teacher is obligated to promote an attitude of understanding and mutual respect.

It is important that the administration and faculty maintain a good rapport, together with mutual understanding and respect.

To summarize our philosophy-we seek to provide the opportunity for each student to develop mental alacrity, emotional stability, physical well-being, and social acceptance so that he may be prepared to be a worthy member of his society.

Mission Statement: Believing that everyone can learn and that schools exist for teaching and learning, Stanly County Schools sets forth as its mission to ensure quality and equity in the delivery of its educational program.
